Authoring for an author

This is a project at the opposite end of the scale from my more commercial work. I was tasked with creating a blog for an Australian author.

My client had a love of old books and typography and block prints. A well worn feel was key to giving her blog a sense gravitas and warmth. The typography in titles was the key to giving strength and interest to each post. This of course had to be handled on the fly, not require effort from the author and it had to work in responsive situations.

The client has a love of the macabre and old world block prints. I searched and gathered illustrations from out of print medical journals, flora and fauna books, documents and art prints and we came up with a visual style that fitted her sensibilities.

The end result was a Wordpress theme, branding and associated illustrations.
